Are you having a great time shopping  in your favorite mall?

New York-based market research agency Luxury Institute has just released the results of its annual Luxury Customer Experience Index (LCEI) survey and revealed three of the best retail establishments loved by wealthy and ultra-wealthy Americans. For this year, more than 1,200 affluent customers participated in a national survey that took place in January 2010 via an online poll. The grading system used was a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being perfect. Featured below are the shops that beat dozens of other establishments:

3. Barneys – 7.91

The purple dinosaur will eternally taint its name, but Barneys has proven it still keeps a huge population of upscale clients, claiming the third spot in the annual battle of luxury. Not regularly in the top list, Barneys did an impressive step-up in the previous year, enhancing the design of their personal shopping and concierge services and making itself a better alternative to other crazed department stores in major cities.

2. Nordstrom – 8.15

Urban legends have it that Nordstrom accepts repair, exchange, and replacement of products so willingly that they do not ask for any proof that the goods came from them. A hall of fame member in Fortune magazine’s Best Companies to Work For, the shop employs happy people who provide more- than-happy services in return. Nordstrom resolves customer problems efficiently, offers unparalleled selection of price-worthy goods, and most of all delivers a recommendable shopping experience—things that consistently put the shop in the top list since the very first LCEI survey.

1. Bergdorf Goodman – 8.23

Hollywood stars and other celebrities don’t visit Bergdorf Goodman for nothing. Credited for successfully satisfying the tastes both of its conservative, stiff-upper-lip clientele and its modern and fashion-playful crowd, the store ranks first across the survey’s rating components, which includes the quality of store environment, the service of brand personnel, and the consumers’ general feeling of satisfaction. Note however that it was a neck to neck battle, since Bergdorf Goodman beat Nordstrom with a measly .08.
