Mega yacht makes waves

Did the recession really happen? It seems like the big spenders are back to luxury bingeing. US-based yacht builder Palmer Johnson, for instance, has just sold one of its recently launched PJ210’s, the 210-foot version of its successful Sports Yacht series. The vessel is currently the largest member in the Sports Yacht family, which consists of 120-, 135-, 150-, and 170-foot models.

We can’t blame the buyer for taking the plunge – the vessel is really worth its weight in coinage. Though architecturally similar to its smaller siblings, the PJ210 is rendered in a new triple-deck design that playfully combines covered and open spaces. Nuvolari-Lenard is behind PJ210’s interior design and layout, so the use of deluxe materials is a definite standard. The lower deck consists of a gym, a sauna, a sea terrace, and four huge guest staterooms, while the main deck houses the owner’s master suite styled with huge circular windows and a fold-down balcony that gives a panoramic view of the ship.

The colossal yacht is packed with pampering amenities, offering upgrade options that include swimming pools on the aft deck and the foredeck, a cinema, a formal dining area, and two salons. The owner also has the option to customize a private deck with cleverly disappearing stairs, a diver support station, and a helipad.

Performance-wise, the vessel is equipped with two MTU 16V 4000 diesel engines, enabling it to cruise at a maximum speed of 28 knots. Two mega yachts are simultaneously being built by Palmer Johnson, one in its shipyard in the US and one in England. While the first hull is already taken and set for delivery in spring of 2011, the other is seeking for its owner. Are you interested to take her home? Pricing can be negotiated by contacting Palmer Johnson via their website.
